Preparing for Preparing Thanksgiving Dinner

About 10 months ago, I suggested to my family that I host Thanksgiving dinner this year.  We were planning to redo our basement to add a family room over the summer and I wanted a chance to show it off.  We floated the idea among our families and as the summer ended and fall began, it looked as if my Thanksgiving basement reveal would become reality.

Thanksgiving dinner.  Shouldn't be a problem.  I've done it four times before, once in a 500 sq. ft. apartment for 16 people.  We were thinking we would feed around 12-15 between both of our families.  No sweat.  We would have plenty of space in our family room.  And when 12-15 turned into 22, eh, no big deal.  When we hit 30 I figured I better start doing some serious planning.  Oh, and did I mention my family also has a day after Thanksgiving football game tradition so I'll be hosting that also.  And to top it off, our basement is not exactly finished yet.  With my families' travel plans set, I have no choice but to dive head first into Thanksgiving madness and hope to keep my head above water.  For the next two weeks, I'll be chronicling my process of organizing a large family gathering and still managing to have fun.  Hopefully.
