STUFF THE STUFFER

January 11, 2011

OK. Fess up.  Are you or someone you live with a "stuffer"?  You know the type.  Sure you spend timing folding their laundry when it comes out of the dryer and placing it in a drawer.  But after a week of digging through to find just the right t-shirt for just the right occasion, you may as well have not folded your laundry at all.
But alas!  Simple Solutions to the rescue.  Try these 3 easy steps for easier clothes location and less need for an iron.

1.  Take out the offending drawer.  The great thing about this exercise is you can do it from your couch.
2.  Remove all contents of the drawer.  Refold the shirts so they are no wider than half the drawer length (or a third of the drawer if you have large drawers or small shirts) and no taller than the height of the drawer.  Think of this drawer as a filing cabinet.  File the shirts away so that you can see just enough of each shirt to easily identify which is which. (See picture)
3.  Put the drawer back and repeat if necessary.  Voila!  In no time flat, you have saved yourself time because now you can see what you want when you open the drawer...and you don't have waste time re-folding.

For the month of January, I am going to focus on 10 minute tricks you can perform from the comfort of your couch to help combine your hibernation with organization.
