The idea of "the cloud" is a bewildering thought to me. I save my information to some place that doesn't really exist but it does exist and I can (in most cases) access it from anywhere if need be (including another computer or even my phone). Mind boggling! But as much as I am skeptical of this "cloud", I can definitely see the advantages of backing your home computer files up by such a method. First, in case of an emergency (fire, flood, theft, etc) your precious information can be recovered nearly instantly from cloud based storage. Files can also be accessed via your smart phone (through iPhone or Android platforms). Second, most services offer automatic or scheduled back up so you don't have to remember to upload any new files you save. You won't have to mess with creating a back up CD or updating your external hard drive. I like MOZY because they offer you a free trial of 2GB (just click on the Try It Free tab on their page) and 50GB of space for a very reasonable $5.99 per month (they even give you free months if you purchase by the year). AND if you're worried about security, they offer military grade encryption to keep your documents, photos, music and other files safe.
