ONLINE BILL PAY

October 22, 2011

Letting your finances become disorganized can cause as much (if not more) havoc as a cluttered house.  Late payments and unpaid bills can lead to a lower credit rating and possibly denial of loans for cars and homes, rental agreements or employment.  Life can often get in the way of paying bills...you don't have stamps to send the payment, you don't know the date or you just plain forget.  Luckily, technology has come to the rescue.  One option to ensure proper payment of bills is to check if your bank offers an online bill payment service.  With this service you can set up a regular date for your bill payment to be sent to your creditors each month.  All you have to do is make sure the money is there.  Another option is to set up an automatic withdrawal for payments through your individual creditors (such as credit card companies or car, mortgage and student loan lenders).  It may take a little more time to set up each account individually but you can often choose your payment date and payment amount (if you would like to pay more than the required amount).    Whatever way you may choose, getting your financial house organized and avoiding late fees for bills can lead to less stress and often more money in your pocket.

October is TechTalk at Simple Solutions Design.  I'll be introducing you to ways you can use your computer and smart phone to keep yourself and your family organized.
