X IS FOR DELETE

October 06, 2012

Electronic clutter is a new frontier for everyone, professional organizers included.  At last count, I receive between 75 and 100 emails per day.  If I miss a day or more of sifting through these emails, it can be a nightmare.  So in this age of technology, what can you do to help combat electronic clutter?  Here are a few tips...

  1. Remove your name from any email lists you do not frequently open or use.  It's like stopping junk mail, if you never see it, you never have to figure out what to do with it.
  2. Delete the messages you no longer need.  You no longer need them.
  3. Create folders for the messages you do want to keep and file the messages away.
  4. Go through your files quarterly to remove and messages that are no longer applicable or necessary.
Learning to tame your electronic clutter can do wonders to streamline your email correspondence time.  Which leaves more time for Pinterest...just kidding.
