My kids need more sugar like I need another hole in my head.  It seems like it's getting more and more difficult to avoid the aisles and aisles of holiday specific treats with every trip to the grocery store.  On the flip side, candy is consumable so it's the gift that goes away because, let's face it, as an organizer I also can't stand the thought of adding to the abundance of toys, books and art supplies we have in our tiny home.  What's a mom to do?!?!

Below are some ideas that came about from me and discussions with my mom friends.  While not entirely clutter-free or food-free, I hope you will find these basket ideas full of practical yet fun ideas for your Easter Basket or any occasion.

  1. THE OUTDOOR BASKET - Any items promoting outdoor play and exploration such as Bubbles, Sidewalk Chalk, Buckets & Shovels, Seeds to Plant, Flowers to Plant, Garden Tools, Rainboots, Rain Jacket, Umbrella, Ant Farm, and a Butterfly Net.  Perhaps use a bucket instead of a basket for presentation.
  2. THE SWIMMING BASKET - In the same vein as the Outdoor Basket, think Sunglasses, Beach Towel, Beach Toys, Pool Noodles, Sunscreen, Pool/Beach Hat, and perhaps even a Pool itself.  You can even substitute a bucket or inflatable ring as your "basket."

  4. THE BAKING BASKET -  You know those super cute Easter dessert ideas you pinned from Pinterest like these or these or this?  Why not gather the ingredients in a basket and bake them up as a family?  Yes, this does still involve sugar but this basket is really about spending time together.  Still don't want the treats?  Instead gather ingredients to make trek mix and cute baggies to take for lunch.
